Happy Monday, crawlers! Just a few short weeks until the October 1 launch of the new Dungeon Crawler Carl graphic novel. We've been having a great time sharing some of our concepts for the project, but how about a formal introduction to the full creative team?

Matt Dinniman is a writer, artist, and musician from Gig Harbor, Washington. He is the author of several books, including the best-selling Dungeon Crawler Carl series (you maaaay have heard of this one before).

Michael Moreci, co-writing the new Dungeon Crawler graphic novel alongside Matt, is a screenwriter and bestselling comics author. His award-winning debut feature film, Revealer, premiered on Shudder in the summer of 2022. His second feature, Holiday Hold-Up, a crime comedy that Moreci co-directed/wrote, was released in 2024. He was also a writer on the SyFy series Revival. In the comics space, Moreci is the creator of the acclaimed gothic horror series The Plot, the werewolf drama Curse, the existential space opera Wasted Space, and the smash-hit sword-and-sorcery series Barbaric. He’s also written for numerous legendary characters and properties, including Star Wars, Rick and Morty, Stranger Things, and more, and he co-hosts The Filmographers Podcast.

Brett Bean, currently drawing the graphic novel, is a writer, character designer, and artist originally from Seattle, Washington.  He is currently working on his creator owned comic book called D’orc, and has written and drawn two kids book series, Muk n Honey and The Zoo Patrol Squad.  Some of his other comic book work can be seen in Marvel’s Rocket and Groot, I Hate Fairyland, and Street fighter x Darkstalkers comics. Brett also works in film, TV, puppetry, and video games on properties like Fraggle Rock, Crash Bandicoot, and the new Naked Gun movie. He lives in Los Angeles with three redheads.

Walter Baiamonte, our colorist, is an illustrator, comic book artist, digital colorist who has contributed his eye-popping colors to titles such as Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Arcade Kings, and more.

Jim Cambell, letterer on the new DCC book, is a multi-Eisner-nominated comic-book letterer as well as occasional writer and artist. He is also a mainstay at Vault, and is responsible for the gorgeous lettering on some of our most celebrated titles, including Barbaric.

Dungeon Crawler Carl concepts, continued!
7 months ago – Wed, Aug 20, 2025 at 09:08:23 AM

First, we'd like to sincerely thank you for all your comments notifying us about the visibility issue on our last post... the BackerKit AI is apparently even more sadistic than the one we're used to, but we've (hopefully) fixed this issue for the previous post and all future posts. You should have been able to read the entire post in your email inbox, but that introduction to our upcoming Fan Box upgrade system is now viewable and comment-able from our Launch Party portal as well.

And that ramps us up for today's art preview, and the last of the concepts by Brett Bean that he created to nail down the vibes of the main cast before he started work on the upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl graphic novel! From here on out, the art will focus around our potential main characters for the expansion story.

Without further ado, our noble steed...

Campaign preview: all about Fan Boxes
7 months ago – Thu, Aug 14, 2025 at 09:36:04 AM

The Dungeon Crawler Carl graphic novel campaign is about a month and a half away! As you know, the star of the show is our new (canon!) graphic novel featuring a popular Crawler from the main series as they enter the First Floor of the World Dungeon. If that wasn't cool enough, the campaign will also feature some fun Dungeon-y add-ons, including customized items from the creative team themselves.

HOWEVER, it wouldn't be Dungeon Crawler World without a little audience participation. To that end, let's introduce some fun facts about Fan Boxes!

  • Fan Boxes will unlock when we hit campaign milestones... for example, our first Fan Box will unlock when we hit our funding goal.
  • Opened Fan Boxes will offer a selection of additional rewards including automatic book upgrades, extra comics, bonus add-ons, special creator rewards... and even some twisted options. If you're a fan, you should know how this game works by now!
  • As higher tiers of Fan Boxed unlock, the better selection of rewards they'll contain.
  • Backers of the project will get to vote the Fan Box reward they want most via the Fan Box poll.
  • The most popular chosen reward from each Fan Box poll will be automatically applied at the end of the campaign as thanks to everyone for playing.

Kinda cool, right?

More previews coming soon!Â
