We've finally gone through our massive chunk of photos from NYCC, and there's some pretty good ones in there! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hello, got a book signed, and maybe even discovered the magic in Vault Comic's other amazing titles along the way. 

Our booth was insane, by the way. In addition to the Dungeon Crawler Carl: Crocodile goodness, Vault Comics was the only booth on the floor with a uh, literal Big Rig. And Post Malone. And Redman. And some of the finest comics, light novels, and LitRPG titles put to print. We certainly do get up to some shenanigans around here. 

We had some questions about acquiring the coveted NYCC #0 issue (the "ashcan") that was mentioned previously, and which has popped up online. They're actually pretty easy to get--simply get in your time machine, go back about a week, then find your way to New York and to our booth and grab a copy for yourself.


Oh--I see. You're one of those backwater hicks who doesn't have a time machine. FINE. We've looked at our available remaining copies and we're probably good to offer the rest to this campaign. If you deserve it. Once we hit 18,000 backers, we'll release the remaining copies.
Note: If you are a backer in any CELESTIAL tier, you will receive a complimentary copy regardless of if the item unlocks.

Hi all! Big news:

Yet another auspicious day in a fairly auspicious month... The Dungeon Crawler Carl Kickstarter campaign for signed & numbered limited editions of Carl’s Doomsday Scenario and The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook is now live!

These bad boys will have reverse holo dust jackets and feature at least five full page tip-in illustrations plus endsheets featuring art by both Luciano Fleitas and Ondřej Hrdina along with a ton of spot illustrations by artist Billy Blue. If you missed out on the first campaign, don’t worry, you can still get a matching special edition of book 1 as an add-on!

The campaign has all kinds of other cool stuff you can include with your order as well, including Player Killer Skull Pins, NPC/Item Cards, TTRPG Minis, and tons more.

Most of the rewards from the first campaign (including Carl’s underwear) are available, and there’s some more that might be revealed during the Kickstarter, so if limited editions full of cool art or DCC collectibles sound like your thing, consider checking out the campaign before it ends on November 13th, 2025 at 11:59 AM, EST.

As we mentioned yesterday, we're dropping a NEW limited tier this week on Wednesday, October 15, at 9am PST. This new tier will be the LEGENDARY MATT BOX, and will include every item in the LEGENDARY CROC BOX, plus an additional signed copy of the BackerKit exclusive Crocodile edition with Matt's signature inside the book itself (and  another signed bookplate).

Oh, and DCC: Crocodile is now the #4 most backed project on the site thanks to all of you madmen, and we have unlocked yet another add-on, a brand-new sticker set. This one is a bit of a weird one... we've blocked the art out due to spoilers! 

What do you think, would it be too much to share some spoilery designs of characters from the upcoming Crocodile graphic novel? Exclusive content under the cut that you have to opt into? or should we keep it clean for everyone? Weigh in if you've got an opinion one way or another! Have you been keeping up with our Add-ons? In addition to the DCC: Crocodile bookmark add-on achievement you unlocked with your avalanche of comments, you guys also unlocked a brand-new Shotgun Messenger enamel pin as thanks for helping us reach #5 most popular project on BackerKit!  

Add-ons are optional items that you can add to your physical reward tier regardless of the tier! There's no limit to the number of add-ons you can slap on your pledge, but also no guarantee these will ever be made available again after the end of the campaign. So make sure you're happy with your life choices before we close up shop early next month.

Now that we're thinking about it, what about a new add-on for reaching #4 most popular? that would be kind of neat, wouldn't it? Would be quite a shame if we added that goal to our achievement page.

A lot of things, we're sure, but Matt's next appearance will be at NYCC this week at the Javitz center. You can catch him at the show, and he'll be signing ashcan preview copies of DCC: Crocodile along with artist Brett Bean at the Vault Comics booth #4351 on Sunday at 1pm. If you can't make it on Sunday, come check out the booth any time to see our NYCC previews and everythibng else the Vault team is up to! Our booth is the one with the Big Rig covered in skulls, crossbows and swords... you know, the usual. You can't miss it.

What else? If you're newer to comics, you might not know much about Aethon and Vault's other titles, including the smash hit audio book/ eBook-turned graphic novel, Black Badge: Dead Acre. You should probably trust folks with good taste, such as... okay, let's see what Matt himself has to say.

We've read your feedback about how quickly the Limited Tiers sold out on launch day, even with slots being withheld for the "official" 9am launch. As you know, the creative team on Dungeon Crawler Carl: Crocodile is about the best team you could ask for, and they wanted to make sure that folks have a second chance at these tiers. As a result, we will be offering additional slots on sold-out tiers and additional (very) limited tiers in the coming weeks. To give everyone a fair chance at being present when these tiers go live, we'll be sharing the time of the drop with project followers a few days before.

Starting with...

The first offering will go live at 9am PST, Thursday, October 9th, and we will be upgrading the Celestial Brett Box Tier to 20 more slots. This limited pledge tier originally sold out on launch day at 20 slots. This addition of 20 more slots will likely be the final adjustment to this very limited original art tier.



Note: We unfortunately cannot guarantee that everyone who wants a limited tier will be able to nab one--these tiers are in high demand and sold out in just a few minutes when they were first offered--but we're giving everyone pre-notification so you have the best chance to snag a slot.

In case you haven't been keeping up with this feature of the campaign: each major milestone of the project unlocks a new FAN BOX. At the moment, we've unlocked the first 3 Fan Boxes, with the 4th Platinum Box unlocking once we hit #5 on the all-time most funded page shown here. As of today we're ranked #8 most funded, but we think DCC: Crocodile can break through to the top 5 as folks continue to discover the project.
